A.K.A. Jesus dude, what happened to you last year?

I would like to apologise.  I was a bit slack towards the end of last year.  Some changes happened (not those changes =_=) and things got a bit out of whack.  But its a new year with new promises, and new ideas.

1) I am going to attempt to listen to an album a week and put up a weekly review.  Preferably by friday afternoon, but we’ll see how that works out.  There will be albums from 2008 that i never got around to listening to, or those i only found out about via end of year polls.  Then as the year rolls on, there will be new releases.  Plus an album or two i promised to review, but never got around to.

2) Show reviews! Yes, they’ll be continuing on in the new year.  At the bare minimum, i’ll be reviewing one show a month.  However, that wont be enough for my liking, so i’ll be putting up whatever i attend.

3) There may, or may not be, the idea of giveaways this year.  ;)

On friday, expect a review of House vs. Hurricane - Forfeiture.

Bring on 2009!

Good news and bad news for those interested in going to Soundwave Festival this year.

The good news:

If you are registered for Soundwave early bird tix, they have pushed the date back by a fortnight so that it doesn’t clash with the BDO ticket release.

Brissy: 23rd Oct.
Syd: 24th Oct.
Melb: 25th Oct
Adel: 26th Oct.
perth: 26th Oct.

And now the bad news.

First band to pull out - Scars on Broadway. Maybe.

Old mate from SoaD, Daron Malakian, “concluded that his heart wasn’t into touring” and has cancelled an upcoming US tour with no current plans to reschedule… One can only wonder if that means they’re going to pull out of Soundwave too?

(which wouldn’t bother me.. Rise Against are touring soon, and perhaps they can be slapped onto the bill instead of Scars?).

And yes, we’re back! Stay tuned as the machine rumbles back into life, refreshed and rejuvinated!

Who doesn’t love a free show? If you happen to find yourself in Canberra this weekend (Phillip/Sat 26th to be specific on both counts), then head along to see local boys Degrees of Freedom tear it up with Sydney band The Sidetracked Fiasco down at The Green Room.

Unless some drastic renovation has taken place, The Green Room is a fantasticly cozy venue (but by no means small) that is perfect for getting up nice and close to the band. Plus the sound is all encompassing in that venue, perfect for getting right into the music.

Cold Beer, Good Venue, Great Band. And all for nothing. Email me and tell me a better way to spend a Saturday night :) Show kicks off at 8pm, dont miss out.

Also, to celebrate the name change, My Future Lies have opened up all tracks on their Myspace profile for free download - but it appears that this too wont last long. Get in quick and grab their tracks while you can!

Whats in a name i ask you? If you renamed a Jack and Coke to Bogjuice, would it taste any less awesome? Or if you were to rename Marshall amps to “Ultra Noise Throwers 2000 (UNT2K)”, would they sound any less awesome when cranked up with a Jibson Los Palm running through a Hoss distortion pedal?

The correct answer here folks, is no. They would still be the staples of rock and roll, no matter what you called them. And its with that undeniable truth in mind that I’m pleased to announce that the guys over in Acid Eyeliner have decided than rather to keep us hanging all week for their new name, to release it with the quickness.

And its with that, King4aDay would like to (re)introduce you to My Future Lies! The Myspace Profile links will change, with the old Acid Eyeliner link redirecting to the new profile, but here on King4aDay we’ll keep both links up on your right hand side there until the boys have fully cemented themselves as My Future Lies.

Click here to bookmark their new Myspace profile.

As they say, “A change is as good as a holiday”, and I hope that this change in name reinvigorates and brings the band closer to their desired goals.

“Yes we’re changing the name. We respect that many fans love the name ACID EYELINER but as individuals, we want to change things a little to set us in the right direction for the next 10 years or our lives.”

Edit: The guys have posted a blog that goes into the reason for the name change, as well as hinting that the new name will be made public in about a week. Check out the blog post here.
